Default PCCM+ Recall

I recently ordered and was set to have my dealer install a PCCM+ in my 2001 C4 - BUT I got a call this morning from the Parts Dept that Porsche has sent out a recall notice out for this part # so I’m not getting the radio after all: 99664259100.

(See product here: https://shop.porscheusa.com/porscheo...664259100.html),

They are refunding my money of course but now I’m looking for something else to put in its place: any suggestions are welcome (and yes, I know I just combined two topics: recall and suggestion request!).

Did the parts department give you any insight as to why they are recalling them? Hopefully this means they're going to fix the firmware bugs.

That’s pretty bad if a software update doesn’t fix it. I wonder which bugs they’re concerned with. Mine actually fixed itself after 5 days, lol. (CarPlay and Sirius issues)

They did not - all I was told was that the part # was recalled - I’ll post more if I learn more

Honestly I wouldn't put anything else in my car besides the PCCM+. If I had to I would get a bluetooth module for the factory Becker radio. I'm interested to learn why it was recalled though. My unit has some bugs but nothing that's made me pull my hair out.

Same thing for me. Love the PCCM+. Has some quirks, but nothing that would convince me to take it out.

Interesting, I too have the PCCM+ but never had any issues with it -- once I switched to using a genuine Apple USB cable that is! I bought my unit from Suncoast Porsche but haven't heard anything about a recall. Would be good to know if it's a safety issue.

So, your odometer doesn’t randomly reset? This is one a known bug.

I'm curious if anyone has been able to corroborate OP's statement on recall status of PCCM+.

that’s only an issue on MOST bus cars. (2003-2005) The PCCM+ connects to the comfort CAN bus and some firmware glitches reset the odometer.

Do you know if there is a fix yet?

Hi all, I managed to get in touch with a dealer who said they had been informed that Porsche is updating some software in the units due to a potential legal issue. PCNA has been told that the units should hopefully be available again in mid to late October. Hope this helps!

Default Update

Further to my initial post, I have now bought the dual din PCCM+ from my dealer - whatever issues prevented them from selling me one a few months ago have since been resolved and once my ‘01 C4 comes back from Elephant Racing (its getting the safari treatment - suspension, lights, bars…) I’m going to have it installed - has anyone else learned anymore about the PCCM+ issue as I still can’t get a full answer as to what was up other than it was software related.
