Default Bad water pump?

Hi all, my 2002 996.2 with 42k miles leaked some coolant which looks to be coming from the pump. Based on my visual assessment and what I read in the forum, I am 95% it is the pump. Looking for that extra bit of confirmation before I order the new pump/thermostat.

Thanks in advance!!!

Frank

Check the platic junction piece right under the alt pulley. Its a 3/8 coolant line that goes back to the aos. It fails when u look at it wrong.

Looks dry, I was hoping this was it. I remember reading about it when I bought the UAOS which I have yet to install.

Francisco, check your service records. If your water pump has never been replaced, it would make sense to do it plus the rubber hoses and plastic bits associated with it that will decay after 20 years. The waterpump is a part that if it goes, you run the risk of hundreds of plastic pieces floating around that can grenade your engine. It's cheap enough and easy enough to replace.

If you haven't replaced your water pump in the last 4 or 5 years, go ahead and do it.

Don't forget Porsche coolant for the refill.
