At least it could be removed and installed by removing the front bumper and would open up the area around the rather warm engine.
Cant put the resi lower then the motor without a significant rework of the system. Its location is fine if its designed correctly to be removed with the motor in or made of a material ljke aluminum so it doesnt need replacing.

Would love to see a lightweight door panel - like your RS panels

but for the 996
here's a couple examples found online:

The bottom one is a Cargraphic lightweight door panel and I'm 100% with you on these... I'd be very interested.

DeJeeper, good point on the placement of the coolant expansion tank. However, I would like to get one of these factory types of covers that might be padded maybe with some magnetics added and soft enough which are now NLA.

Damn, that's amazing.

What's it called? Part number? Maybe one will surface on eBay eventually.

That's my car in the above pic and it's called a "service cover", part #PNA50599600. I found it NOS on Ebay for around $60.00. There was a guy in Oregon that said he could duplicate them but he needs one to use as a pattern.

They made one for the front seat too. I can dig up the part number, but I think it's NLA too.

How about you guys gluing some high power magnets to the inside of the GT3 console-delete pattern and use the regular steel sheet in the phone case?

Auto Atlanta already sells those covers, cost about $175 though.

Thanks for the response everyone! The engineers have their eyes on this thread with itchy CAD fingers! Keep it coming!
@Rennline, any progress on any of the suggestions?

How about carbon fiber instrument trim rings instead of brushed or polished aluminum....or the entire fascia that is usually black that surrounds the instruments with a choice between gloss and matte..

Default Getting older ya know.

Howzabout a handle, or pull, mounted just above the window on the driver’s side like every other car in the world.

I mean, how much can one of those weigh?

I thought a customizable decal that could be applied to the spoiler bellow might be interesting. Surprise message at speed.

Carbon fiber… really anything. I’m surprised at the lack of, what I’d call “show car” parts offered for the 996. Coming from the corvette world, there is a plethora of billet oil, coolant, steering fluid, etc. caps available. While not my cup of tea, 90% of the vettes had them.

Colored carbon fiber emblems and badging may be kinda neat.

I’d also like to see someone develop a tested and proven intake manifold, not just a plenum.

The one suggestion I know we have in production right now is the CF GT3 console delete!
