A package arrived from overseas yesterday. RoW M030 springs, Koni Sport shocks, and a bunch of stuff to refresh the rest. Carnewal was very informative, helpful, and responsive. Shipping was remarkably quick too, 4 days door to door. I would not hesitate to order from them again.

I've spent the morning cross referencing the part numbers in fact. The only one I'm having a problem with is the number for the pair of front springs; they look correct based on the paint markings, but I can't find a reference to the part number on the packaging.

My last big box o' suspension bits arrived today, w00t! I was working on yard equipment all day and now I'm beat, but perhaps tomorrow I'll lay it all out into some kind of nifty eye candy image.

I'm getting into the dirty part of the job, finally. In all my years of wrenching I never had a ball joint splitter, now I do. Also anyone with clever hints on how to do a proper job of attaching the inner tie rods to the end of the steering rack is welcome to respond. So far the rest seems reasonably straightforward, although I've noticed that quite a few of the bolts are green/blue in color. Did Porsche simply spray them down with threadlocker? That's my first guess anyway.

Oh yeah. I have yet to pull a bolt out that had the same feel as the ubiquitous BMW "one time use" bolts, which are designed to stretch during torquing and are therefore expendable. The Porsche bolts feel like ordinary hardened bolts. That's probably why they don't all call for being replaced.

The greenish tint is the anti-corrosion coating that Porsche used. It seems to hold up well. There are some one-time TTY bolts in the car, the only ones in the suspension that come to mind are the brake caliper mounting bolts. I have reused them even though Porsche says not to.

Wow, LCAs sure have changed a lot in 20 years.

Okay, holiday is over and I am back at the suspension work. The Autozone spring compressor 'rental' was a great success. The way it works is you essentially pay them for the tool; you use the tool; you take the tool back; they refund your money. This beastie was overkill for my little job.

This happened too. 20 years' worth of parts changes and redesigns resulted in me needing different bolts for the 'lateral arms' as Porsche calls them. I have some ordered, hopefully they are correct. I'll know in about a week. If you are doing this work take a look at your front and rear "lateral arms" (the ones that go forward from the LCA) and see if they are fat or thin at the LCA end. Then order the new bolts if needed along with the rest of the bits.

I went with OEM Porsche for all the stuff with rubber in it, except what I was able to source from an OE vendor such as TRW. (Some of the TRW parts I got have Porsche part numbers.) I went this way on the advice of a local restorer who says that the Porsche branded stuff holds up much longer. So that is the part that superseded the original part, according to Porsche.
