I have two sets of wheels and boy do I wish I had room for 4 in the garage. If I did, I would continue to run a set of 200w track tires on one, summer street tires on another; and then on the 2 extra sets I would run a set of all weather that were best in cold weather and snow and a set of Hoosiers.

We have so many new choices for tires today that i am like a kid in a candy store. Looking forward to more tire comparison tests to understand the advancements and characteristics.

I'm not interested in driving the car on salty roads in the winter, and if there's rain in the forecast I'm going to leave it in the garage. That limits my yearly mileage to the point where I'd definitely struggle to get the full tread life out of a MPS4S or other 300+ treadwear tire in the tires' 6 year lifespan. So I guess I'm leaning towards the street and track 200s. Sure they don't last nearly as long, but it's probably the right balance of shelf life and mileage for my anticipated driving patterns. I'm also not planning any track time.

I feel like I'm talking myself into the extreme performance summer tires, but the review data on them is so limited it makes it tough to decide.
OP - If you’re running OE 18x8 and 18x10, you can find plenty of 225/40 options, but the 265/35 size is pretty hard to find in the flavor you might prefer. What I did was go to 275/35 rear when I couldn’t find any 265/35 of my beloved AS3+. Not so pinched, increases rake ever so slightly (3mm) and many options for stickier rubber. Not N-spec, but take the whole N-spec discussion as you will.

I've thought about getting an all-season tires for my Carrera IIs for the 10-20 days we're below summer tire temperatures.(40F)
But since I no longer have a daily commute, I just can't justify the expense.
I have PS4S on both sets of wheels.
I'd buy a more track-focused tire for my wider OZ wheels, but then I'd not have my favorite wheels on my 996 most of the time.
First world problems I know!
My third set of wheels were stored outdoors, so once I sold them I decided that 2 was it.
My Michelin wheel rack holds 1 set of wheels and a full-sized spare for 1 of my other vehicles.
Wish I had room for more wheels.

20k miles is right around the mileage I got from my current General RS Max tires. Fronts have plenty of life left but rears are close to gone. Sound like I can expect similar from PS4S set. I'm also mostly street but will be doing an occasional HPDE day which will probably place some additional wear, which is to be expected and fine with me. Seems like you're basically replacing the rears are two times the rate.

If you DE your 996, you will see accelerated wear on the fronts from braking and turn in.

My front are lasting longer than the rears, but definitely not twice as long.
