Default Cracked Cylinder and Bore Score: How to get out?

Took my 3.6 to the Porsche dealer after wrestling with it for two years. The final blow is a hole in cylinder one. It's burning coolant. Bore score on cylinders 4, 5, and 6 as well.

If you've followed my posts you've seen me wrestling with it. You also know that I've put $10K in parts on the car. Now it's a roller.

This has been the worst case scenario from the start because the seller, on BAT, said they had a title for the car. They did not. Now that the engine has the death nail in it how do I get out?

Best,

Best,
I can't help but I keep seeing more and more horror stories from BaT. Sorry that you are going through this. If you can't get the title its essentially a parts or track car, no?

It took months to get the title straightened out. So that part is correct now.

I'm really faced with how much I spent on the car vs. what is it worth as a 996 that needs an engine rebuild.

Sorry to hear the news. How is the condition of the rest of the car? What's your inclination?

Well, you could sell it as a parts car.

You could rebuild the engine, which gets you a new car in 996 clothing.

And there is all the "while you're in there" preventative maintenance you should do.

It's a sad situation, but maybe a hidden opportunity, too. If you really want the car you should just fix it and suck up the extra cost. It will be a car that you know from the inside out. Forget what the car is worth.

That's life; sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug.

Right now your mood is in a bad place. Put it all away and come back to the problem when you are not feeling so sour.

Euro,

A hypothetical question for you. You put 10k in parts into the car. Assuming the engine didn't fail as it did, would you have eventually gotten the engine rebuilt like many of us will eventually do?

How do you get out while minimizing your losses...

You buy a parts car and yank the motor out and put in your car. You part out the rest of the parts off the parts car you're not using and get a big chunk of the money you spent back.

It's a pain in the *** but will get you the cheapest motor you are going to find.

Good luck man.

I did this when I blew my car up on the track. It was a lot of work, but I actually ended up clearing $12K after buying the parts car, keeping the motor and selling everything else.

Euro

man so sorry to hear about your trouble with this car. i thought not seeing you on this forum for a while was a good sign.
i echo what others are saying about getting a used engine. BUT only if you have the money AND time. If not. Cut your losses and sell car
for parts. Wash your hands and move on.

Sorry to hear about the trouble with your car. I agree with Marv above, maybe store the car for a little while, if possible, to let the sting subside and formulate a plan. Most obvious option would be to sell the car as a roller, or you could part the car out but that would be a major hassle unless you have your own shop. You could find another engine, but there's always the risk that engine has the same issues. You could do an SBC LS3 conversion with a Renegade conversion kit, lose 100 lbs and gain 150hp in the process, or even do an electric vehicle conversion which I've seen on Youtube and looks awesome! Take your time, get a little distance from the problem, and formulate you plan. Best of luck.
