That one was indeed a FirstFlatSix 2020, feature, and an authentic early-build amber 1999. Someone got a 2020 steal!

This info is from Hagerty's official Vehicle Valuation Report for the 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera:

NUMBER PRODUCED:
10,728 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera 6-cyl. 3387cc/296hp BMI Coupes produced
2,336 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera 2dr Coupes produced

I don't know what the difference is between what they call the "BMI Coupe" and "2dr Coupe" - thoughts from others? @bdronsick ?

No idea, but those numbers do not refer to “early-build 99” that we are registering on this list

The pre-production “early-build” subset of MY1999 is only a fraction of the 1999 model year total

Thanks! My color code didn't match the VIN decoder I used and wasn't 100% sure of the color name.

I am not sure of my build date.
I only have the date that is was licensed for the road and probably delivered to the first buyer. That was the fifth of feb 1998. So it was probably built much earlier. (somewhere in 1997)
I am not sure if euro-cars have the build-dates in the door jambs like US-cars have. I'll check tonight. So I think the 1/98 of Casper996's post does add up to my car with a somewhere in 1997 build date.

A friend of mine (not on rennlist) owns WP0ZZZ99ZWS601446. (black/tan coupe manual)
It was licensed (/driven for the first time) on 19-11-1997. So it was built a couple of months before that.

To avoid confusion, I put my car on **/97 for now as I do not know the exact build date, I only have the day it was first licensed/driven (february the 5th 1998) so it was very probably built in 1997.
The sticker on the door with the build date is only for US-cars I think.

Our second early-build Vesuvio! My lonely car is no longer alone. Really hoping now for a Speed Yellow, and some other unicorns (although Zanzibar wasn’t offered 99)

I do not know how quick they produced, shipped, sold and registered those cars in 1997. But his car was road registered on 19-11-1997.
So from 19-11-1997 on it was driving on the streets in Germany.
So was built before that obviously.
If they built, shipped and sold it in 2 weeks, then production can still be 11-1997, but it sounds a bit fast.

The first 996's were shown at the IAA in Frankfurt in september of 1997.

Good grief those would be some "early" builds eh? Perhaps even hand-built on the 964 assembly line?? Now that would really be something
Seriously, if we ever see build stickers dated prior to 11/97 then we will certainly welcome them with open arms!!
