Hey Pmkazz,

I am very sorry to hear that, we take these matters very seriously. We have not received any similar complaints about that system, so I shot you a PM so we can open an investigation.
To my knowledge, we have been using dual-walled tips for over 12 years so I would love to connect.

Here is a video of our CEO Joe, showcasing the tip design shortly after our initial development!

Looked too good and I just felt the need to spend a little money on something fun! I'm doing front chin, side skirts, rear diffuser and a cute, little add-on wing next month and this will top it off
You probably already know this (or will figure it out when you try to take the old tips off ), but be sure to order new OEM clamps and also have high-temp anti-seize lubricant on hand for the new clamp bolts and clamp surfaces. I used Lubro Moly LM508 when I installed mine 4 years ago and had no problem at all loosening the clamps to lower the tips after installing new motor mounts last week (so the LM508 worked very well).

That protective strip doesn't look particularly "clean" for a factory solution, but I guess it's far less noticeable from normal viewing angles.

You do have to be careful about clearance to the bumper exhaust surround, one post in the other thread mentioned melting the exhaust surround (a surprise to me since I don't think the tips on 996 get very hot).

EP4110 factory tips are much nicer than the base tips and fit 996.1 perfectly. A careful shopper can find a set for 1-200 bucks on eBay.

Yes, all 996 Turbos have that aluminum strip above the exhaust pipes.

Previous owner added these on mine. Think they look nice and they’re on a set of FisterDs.

My C4S has the metal strips also.

On a side note I bought the wrong quad tips for my 4S. The ones I got were for a C2-C4 narrow body. I put them up for sale in the marketplace if anyone wants them, link below. I ended up getting X-50 Turbo tips from Fabspeed, they fit good and look great.
