Question Car Covers

2-3 month "lurker", hit the keys/screen and joined today. Rookies (me)1st post.
'99' Black Cab. purchased from close friend, just got top issued addressed by a
local Indy. She's no garage queen but, she'll be covered and garaged here in
Southern California. Got any suggestions for a decent cover? PelicanParts maybe....
Thanks folks.

+1 Coverking: I keep mine in a carport through summer and use the Coverking and they are nice for what I wanted. A little bit of moisture protection from Pacific NW rains and wind, keeps dust off ok..I have the 3 layer one that is probably the cheapest. Fits snug.

Don't use them after paint correction. They cause micro scratches in the paint, those swirly ones you see in sunlight.

Factory Porsche is great quality.
It comes with a draw tight and lock, also a storage bag.
Had mine 7 years, the car sits under it all winter.
This is picture from a couple years ago, before garage was finished.
Mine is a GT3/Aero cover, it fits around rear wing and front splitter.

Techart. Indoor cover. They are fleeced inside so no scratches.

specific model would probably fit even better than this. I was gifted this, it’s a Gt4 cover. Works on my 996 Aero Targa well enough 😎

I have seen them in my Techart catalog, but never saw one in person on a car. It looks like it fits pretty good.
That was what I really wanted, but couldn't justify the $$ for the Techart.
Bad enough the factory Porsche GT3/Aero was mid $300, seven years ago.

I've used the Platinum version from CarCovers and it has performed well in all conditions from rain to snow. You won't induce any scratches on the paint as long as you NEVER put it on a dirty car. Car covers should only be put on right after a car is washed. If weather does not permit for a proper wash then I'd do a waterless / rinse-less wash at the very least with something like ONR (Optimum No Rinse) and then put on the cover. Make sure it's also secured well enough so it doesn't move around when windy if the car is parked outside. Follow this and you'll have great results.

If you're trying to protect your car from dust, I'd recommend not using a car cover. If you're going to be putting the cover on every week or two, you'll be scratching the paint by doing so.

However, if you're trying to protect it from someone walking by and scratching it, then definitely get a car cover. I personally use the Porsche indoor car cover, which is a stretchable satin car cover. Works well. It's pretty thin though.

You can also look into something like this:

Another option for your research:

I have a California Car Cover (Plushweave Cotton Flannel) that is thick and very soft inside. They are located in Simi Valley so may be somewhat local to you. This is definitely an indoor cover but they have others also.

Yes. Sort of inconvenient but doable.

Put the cover on the car normal side out and wash it,
Then put it back on the car inside out and pressure wash and/or hose wash with soap, Treat greasy parts with simple green or car soap and rinse well.
Rinse full cover with water, or DI water if you have it available and let the cover dry on the car, or remove the cover and place it on a clean flat space to dry.
Remove the dry cover and then wash the car, or wash it while cover is drying on flat space.
Done.
