Default 996 Headlights

I am glad to be back. Had a 914, 87 911 turbo and a 2001 996TT. Its been may years but back again with a 2002 996. Attached is my car. I like what the previous owner did with the headlights. Looks nice.

Welcome back! I like the wheels and the side logo. Fresh retro look. Congrats.

Looks great. To me the headlight covers are ok but up close some look cheap and/or off color. But your Fuchs styled wheels look great! I've got a black cab and have thought of getting those wheels along with a "Carrera" script rocker sticker like your "PORSCHE" version. Why? Because it's that "80's" look I grew up with.

I prefer not altering the look of the 996 headlights, because it implies that something is wrong with the design. The longer I own my 996.1, the more I like the headlights. They flow perfectly with the car’s shape. Nice car, though.

Of the 20+ total strangers that have made unsolicited comments to me about my 996 in 2 years of ownership, ZERO said anything about the headlights. Obviously a personal choice but they are what separates our 911s from all others. Nice rims and script.

Headlights are great just the way they came out of the factory, but I must admit the front bumper cover on a 996 C4S is the best front bumper cover ever! That is just the swoopiest front end Porsche ever designed.

^^^^^^^^^^^ - No need to hide those headlights any longer. These cars are aging like fine wine.

I don't care for the headlamp covers either but I would love to see some more pics of the wheels.

Covering headlights is just letting the sheep win. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the headlights, but if you don't say they are ugly you aren't part of the cool kids club. The irony is that it's always cooler not to follow the crowd.

Welcome back. Love the wheels. Mixed on the covers. I have had my 02 996 for 19 years. Bought the car and didn't give the lights a second thought. In fact I liked them at the time and still do. Funny thing is that the 996 has aged extremely well in looks. And the headlight bitchin and moaning that goes on is similar to training a bird how to repeat certain sentences. They repeat the sentence but have no idea what they are talking about.

You made a great choice in getting into the 996 club. Be proud of your car. You done good! And yes, show us more pictures of your wheels!

I think the 996.2 headlights are some of the best looking headlights designed. The fried egg moniker came from 996.1 with the bottom half amber. People continued using that name for the later generations but they look nothing like eggs.

Those covers remind me of the Lone Ranger. They gotta go.

996.1 headlights > 996.2 headlights IMO
