Which plugs?
I'm running OEM part Bosh plugs I got on line as a part of the package with coil packs. My buddy got NGK plugs. Both of our cars are running well. If anything, I'd make sure you get the larger 997 coil packs for your car which are compatible with our 996 now too.
I do not understand why this is even a question. You will most likely change your spark plugs like maybe once? It is not like something you do every six months. Get some 4 prong Bosch spark plugs and new updated coil packs, change them all and drive another 100K miles. http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=901-00

Well Joe... Because maybe someone had a negative experience with one or another and it would prevent another from having the same experience. Happy New Year.
Happy New Year. And hence my recommendation. I bought some center tip iridium plugs and one of the tips melted. Went back to Bosch 4 prong OE plugs and have never looked back. Changed out my coils for the updated 997 coils at the same time. What led me there was a fairly persistent code related to a misfire (I forget which cylinder). Figured it was either a spark plug or coil.

Was it the correct heat range ?
Well, what I figured was it may have been due to several cracked coils, a flaw in the spark plug, manufacturing defect. Yes, that plug looks horrible. I was horrified when I pulled it out, but the other plugs looked okay. I don't really remember the mileage. I think I got less than 7,000 miles on those plugs at around 115K-120K miles. And remember, I have a 99 C2 with 146,6xx miles on my car now. Been through a lot. The car has run so much smoother and better with the Bosch plugs and new coil packs.
I went with Beru because it seems like they've been slower to move manufacturing to China than Bosch has. Having said that, the last Bosch plugs I bought were for a BMW and made in Germany. The Berus were made in France.
