Depends on your proportions. I’m 6’-4” with long torso. I can get in, but ‘fit’ in is subjective. I have ultimately mounted my seats To the floor in both an ‘85 911 and now my 996 Targa. without doing so a helmet was a no go and view through windshield was compromised. The targa bought me more headroom than a sunroof coupe with standard seats/mounting. I also removed windshield mounted rear view mirror as it obscured views on right hand corners.
you can see here that I gained about 2” with driver side floor mount compared to passenger slider mount. You could also take some foam/cushion out of standard seat bottoms too.

I'd love to know the models/part-numbers for the seat and mounting, and what needed to be done to get it done correctly. My independent (who also modifies Porsches of all eras) says that it's not really feasible without cutting out the floor and rebuilding it specifically for the application. Maybe he only meant it for my electric "comfort" type seats?

Not sure you can get your stock seats lower.

Im looking at 996’s and tried setting in a C4S with sunroof = no legroom and no chance for a helmet, then a 996.1 C2 aut. no sunroof = no legroom and a bit better headroom but only 3 fingers wide.
My aim is a 996.2 C2 manual Coupe with no sunroof.
And I would have to fit in it to safely drive on track days = not hetting my legs on the wheel and room to have a helmet on…its kids charity runs so safety is even more important.
My plan is to add a bucket seat, on custom mounts, to get it all the way down to the floor, and then a steering wheel Momo adaptor and a smaller racing wheel…because the steering wheel is setting to low, it would be crasy nice to have tilt function…
Any other ideas?
And no, I cant buy a 991, lots of room with a racing seat.
Best regards
Michael

It was briefly mentioned in this thread, but there are other threads with more detail and pictures; look into the GT3 console delete modification. It makes a huge difference in the feeling of leg room.

If you can avoid seats with tubular frames,, they are not a good thing in a hard incident..
A Aluminum/Fiberglas/CF bathtub seat are the most protective. Also depending on the number of events you do a year,
with proper mounting planning you can switch the driver seat out in just a few minutes..
