2002 C4 cab. Engine replaced at 7500 miles due to RMS oil leak. Currently have 10,000 miles on replacement engine (17,500 on odometer), with no problems to date.

99 Cab 41K, no problems so far, but still runnin' scared.

This is an old resurrected thread. I don't see Bernie posting anymore, I wonder what happened to him, he got a raw deal.

Yep, I used to live less than 5 miles from the med center, I averaged 5K per year. Now I commute about 13 miles to my new practice.

i am amazed this old thread continues to draw posts! 295 responses to the survey still with about 40% rms leaks in 996's. my 2002 c4s is still dry at almost 50k mi. i wonder whether the 997's also have rms leaks?

Problem is that the poll is closed so it cannot be updated.

Useful thread for those of us who are just beginning to research 996's. So the rear main seal goes bad? And then the crank recess goes out of round? Hm....

no it's already out of round, that's why you get a leak.
