Can you twist the starter at all? If you can get it to twist you will have broken the bond between starter & trans.

Some may not endorse this but u can slide a small piece of plywood under the back of the starter and use a prybar to rock the starter vertically. U have to break the corosion bond. U just want to be extra careful that u r not prying on the aos tube or the wiring harness.

im sure u will get it.

Another idea - stick a long enough piece of 2x4 wood in there and hammer at an angle. With the two bolts out the only thing preventing it coming out is a corrosion bond between the starter and block. It will come out!

Is this one of those problems that can be solved by the careful application of high explosives?

No twisting pb blaster did not work wedging wood nogo. Put it in gear and tried rocking back and forth to maybe loosen it. I'm giving up having it towed to indy today. I feel like a failure...

I would not feel bad. Sounds like you made good attempt. Will be interesting to see what they have to do to get it out. Please keep us informed.
