Have a 99 996. The headlights, older style I suspect always had a couple of yellow spots on them and I just discovered a small crack on both sides. Obviously heat, short of replacing the entire unit can this be fixed. Pretty expensive and the car is almost never driven at night. Thanks.

Few options here. You can either:
- DIY restore the lenses using a number of methods tested here using store-bought kits and polishes
- Have a body shop polish and clear coat the lenses. This will seal and ensure that they won't further yellow down the road. I believe i paid a couple hundred for them to do this on my 996.
- Buy a second-hand set of lights and replace them. This will be much cheaper than new units

Hi
Here's a quick write-up of the procedure to restore front lenses.
I did this last year and it worth the effort.

Which lens is cracked the outer one or the inside one? You could could restore depending what the crack is or get from dismantler. I have gotten all of my parts from norspec dismantling...try them https://norspecdismantling.com/

Thanks folks, a little more research by me needed. It is the inner headlight that is yellowed and cracked. It looks like a normal old fashioned round headlight inside the assembly. If you can't open them up I guess I am looking at replacement. Appreciate the help.
