How is the best way to store a temporary roller that has had engine/tranny dropped and will be sitting in a home 2 gar garage for several months over the summer/fall? I've seen many posts talking about rodents taking up residence and chewing wires, etc. and wasn't sure how best to protect my car. Also how best to take care of tires? The car, sans engine/tranny, isn't too heavy so i can roll it, with help, outside and back if that would be wise to help with the tires.
I store my cars in a 2000sqft Metal building about 30 minutes away and its next to a park. My strategy has been a combination of lots of snap traps (about 6), electrocution traps (about10), bait, dryer sheets by all the wheels and cat hair sprinkled around the wheels. For years, Cars seem to stay clean and safe and every two weeks when I visit the cars, there is a mouse or two in the traps. So I feel pretty good. However if I had the garage at the house, I would us the roller pin bucket method which friends use. They claim they eliminate rodents in the whole area but you need to empty dead rodents regularly. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...5E&FORM=VDQVAP
I have 7 cars and a Class A RV out back in the garage, living out in
the sticks on a wooded lot.I use one system, and one system only for rodent control.Mother Nature.I have not seen a mouse or signs of a mouse in over 10 years.
As for tires, over inflate to 60psi for storage. It also makes the "roller" roll easier.

I've got a "Russian Blue" that's a little bad ***. No meese on my property!
as long as it is covered should be good to go. If you have mice problems use poison feed stations they work really well. The feed stations really show your what is there as they attract and feed on it. Keep an eye on it. Once they stop feeding there really isn't much of a problem any more but you have to keep it full until the wave is over.
I plug exhaust with steel wool and use moth ***** in frunk and cabin filter as well as use laundry dry thingies into the cabin.
If you have property let chickens free roam. , they swallow them whole after fighting off the others for it, like watching dinosaurs attack. I have lost 1 lost a 1993 Sc300 and a 2006 Ford E250 with 14k miles to these rodents, kill on site!
I just pushed my roller into a spare bay and left it for a year and half while I sorted out the rebuild. I set a few mouse traps and checked them once of twice a month. Once I was ready to revive the car, I washed off all the dust, and pumped out the old gas and mixed it into fuel for the suburban.
I never understood the jack stand storage thing. Radial tires should correct any temporary flat spots once you get them up to temp on the first drive, and leaving the suspension hanging on jack stands creates other issues.
