Default Fair price for 99 C4

Hello. Was wondering what others think is a fair private party price for a 1999 C4. Excellent condition, 42k miles, RMS and IMS done at 32k. Full leather and no modifications. Well sorted, serviced regularly and what was needed was always taken care of. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

That's pretty much my car without the RMS and IMS. I also have a lot of very tasteful interior mods plus I have an aero package.

I can tell you I bought my car 4 years or so ago for $22K with 33K miles. I don't know what it is worth today, but I am going to say about that much for a "real" sale number.

Thanks. This does not have aero package, does have power seats, stock CD player, climate control, silver trim on gear shift and e brake and has sport classic wheels.

Based on BAT, eBay, CL a fair price is 22-25K.

With todays economic climate... I think you can pretty much name your price and a seller would have to consider it. Have a feeling we are going to even see air-cooled drop to "reasonable" numbers.

Thanks for your responses, I realize c4 vs c2 is all about individual preference. That said do the c4's command a higher price? I submitted my initial question as 996 prices are all over the place.

Around mid 20's would be fair. I would offer 22k and go from there.

My c2 sold for 22k yesterday (mint interior 55k c2) and I thought that was more than fair.

My belief is that the c4 is worth a bit more than a c2 because it can be driven 365 days a year anywhere in the country. c4 sales are strong in winter too when c2 fall off a little.

I watched your auction on BAT, beautiful car, and you described and answered questions about your car flawlessly! I would say the car that I am looking at aside from being a C4 is very similar in condition.

That seems like a good price for a 99 C2.

...not a criticism, just mentioning my 99 C2 winter experience. I live in MN and while this winter was mild, we still had the occasional blizzard and road ice conditions. I ride Blizzaks in the winter. My 99 is a daily driver. Winter driving in MN is more about stopping ability than starting. And the Blizzaks performed wonderfully in all conditions except ice. The biggest issue with winter driving an older 911 is driving on icy roads in windy conditions. The car is light and gets blown around. A C4 wouldn’t inspire any more or less confidence for me.

22k sounds fair to me in this environment. Plus you can register it as a collector car and avoid the sales tax, if relevant in your state. Good luck!

My C4 drives awesome on ice, both stopping and starting its a 2003, The PSM and Traction control work great,, yes you are still limited to the laws of physics, but mine has the Michelin Sport Pilots and it still drove great in the winter. And I drive in the Columbia Gorge which is the king of wind and ice.. So there ya have it just another opinion..

Thanks to all the responses! I did forget to mention the car I am looking at is a coupe. I live on the east coast so we often have snow and ice, that said, unless I get caught in bad weather this is going to be a fair weather car. However, I do like that the C4 seems to be more planted and stable for my driving skill set. I must admit that I have been reading RL for quite some time and all the IMS, scoring and D chunk talk has made me walk away from a few cars that were most likely perfectly fine. Now, I have the $ to buy outright and feel I can get past some of my fears and am ready to enter the 996 world. Do I still have some reservations, hell yes! But when I look at nice 996's b/w 20 to 25k I really cant find a better valued true sports car on the market.

I don't think the C4 really changes the value on a 99, the reason I bought mine was because it was loaded with options, had an aero package and was ocean blue metallic. I remember when I bought it, I was wishing it was a C2, but it doesn't really matter to me now. The 99 C4 will have PSM, I don't know if it was even an option for the C2, or if it was an option, very few came with it.

I kinda wish I could break the car loose, but you really can't unless you are on wet pavement and have the wheels turned quite a bit from a stop.

I bought my 1-owner '99 C4 Cab, 6sp, in 07/2018 with 26,410 miles for $24K. Pretty basic except the audio system was upgraded; McIntosh amp, Canton speakers, Alpine HU. IMS, RMS, AOS had not been done. I think the price is good.
