I was just going by what it was called in the options catalog back in the day.

What GarrettSR5 said, good paint work isn't cheap. I could of paid half what I did but it had to be perfect. Also matching 20 year old metallic paint can be a challenge from what I've heard.

Didn't know it was called the Carrera spoiler.

And yeah I hear you on the paint. I had my engine lid, front bumper and frunk redone recently and it is a good match but not perfect.
"Driver quality" if you will. In a few years I will have a glass out repaint done as I intend on the 996 being my 'forever' car.

I did this a few months ago. I should have taken step by step pics but was too excited to get this on, also there was a fear that I would mess it all up.

I first watched this video - very helpful instructions on how to remove the stock spoiler.

If you don't have the harness order it here, I could not believe the price! This way your third brake light works and your spoiler error light does not go off.

Hope this helps.

I think you are right as well.
I remember seeing it in one of my early 2000 Tequipment catalog labeled as "Tequipment Spoiler.
It is on my factory window sticker, ($3500.00 option), Porsche build sheet as well as PCA certification as "Carrera Wing"

When presented with Aero Skirts and Aero Bumper it is referred to "Carrera Aero"

It's just a spoiler and an engine lid. What was the breakdown of the cost? How many hours are they claiming they spent of it? There is a difference between "good work isn't cheap" and being ripped off.
As for matching the paint, they have a spectrometer that does this. All they need to do is mix the paint according to the what the machine spits out.

The flange you PM'd me about is still available and even though it's just stamped metal, it was $55.79 from Sunset in 2017.

I don't have the offical instructions but here's a schematic and the parts list.

And some pics of the the actual pieces.

If you need this circled cover piece, be prepared to bend over.

SoCal... is there a reason that cover piece (shown in your circle above) is required? Is it a functional piece or just a piece to make the underside of the deck look better? I ordered the flanges (only available in Germany) and will not receive for another 3 weeks or so.

Thx.

Not ture. Initially, I thought it was just for looks, however, having it and driving my car, I notice a considerable more about of road dirt behind the spoiler and on the rear bumper than there was before I had the spoiler.

I was talking about this plastic trim piece, not the wing in general.

Ok, got the flanges today and decided to try to tackle this install. Maybe I shouldn't have...

I took apart the rear deck, removing the spoiler, the spoiler motor and the fan. Now, not quite sure how to get the fan wiring working again. The fan wiring is in the same harness as the spoiler motor. I have the wiring harness that came with the OEM Carrera spoiler. Do I also need an additional harness that was referenced above (https://parts.porscheofannapolis.com...ss-99661207004) in post #18? Just not sure what I need to do to get this all back together... Thx for any help!

If you got a harness with the spoiler you should be good.

Great thread. When I had my 2003 C2 it had the Carrera spoiler as a factory option but a PO had removed it and reinstalled it...was missing all the correct hardware...I could never find the Factory parts diagram for it to get the correct hardware, until now. Thanks for posting. Dad owns my C2 now so may drive over to his place and take a look to get the correct hardware on there and take off the cobbled together hardware store stuff I had to use. Thanks again for posting this!!

I guess I'm not 100% clear on what your issue is. You say you have the harness that came with the Carrera wing. If so, it's pretty much plug and play. Do you have a pic and/or part # of the harness?

My question was how to get fan motor wired correctly as fan wiring is intermingled with electric spoiler motor and was not sure if I needed the second wiring harness that was in the parts list you provided... got it all sorted today though... my mechanic paid a home visit and all working great! Thx
