I'm about to go through this exact procedure to replace the fake wing my car came with when I bought it. Just got my new trunk in the mail last week. So what I'm getting at is we will have each other for emotional support, if nothing else.
Are you willing to disclose what the painting cost? I have yet to reach out for a quote on mine.
awesome! not too much info out there as it's pretty rare part I guess! I dropped mine off today for paint, they said I can pick it up on Friday. $389 total for painting black to arctic silver. I took the parts apart including removing the light and the wiring harness to make it easier for them.... let me know what you find on install! Thx.
Sorry for not replying to your PM yesterday, it's been crazy this week (and it's only Tuesday ).
The flange you PM'd me about is still available and even though it's just stamped metal, it was $55.79 from Sunset in 2017.
I don't have the offical instructions but here's a schematic and the parts list.
And some pics of the the actual pieces.
If you need this circled cover piece, be prepared to bend over.

In 2018 I paid $900.00 to paint the engine lid and the two wing pieces .
$900.00 seems like a lot but it was a color change from black and the shop I used is one of the 'go to' Porsche guys and has a big following with the **** 356 crowd.
I could have found a cheaper place but the car is so pristine that I knew I would never be happy unless the paint job was perfect.

Thx for the help SoCal. I guess I better order those flanges! Hopefully don't actually need that $200 cover piece! I should probably find an extra decklid so that I don't have to take apart my stock deck/spoiler.
Thanks! I only need to replace the "grille" portion that pops up at speed. The motors, fan, etc. I'm not too intimidated by this project - but I have a busy schedule on top of a 99 Carrera that I'm rebuilding so this is a minor project I've been keeping in the back of my mind for a rainy day - and I live in Vegas so I'm not holding my breath for that!
Thanks for the intel. I gotta pick up my phone and start figuring out who the top painter in Vegas is.
Those painting prices are crazy! How many hours are these shops spending on them and how much is the material? You guys need to find shops that don't add a "Porsche tax" to their work.
