Engine Stalling Question
Everyone,
Need some assistance figuring out what's going on with my car. I have a 2001 996C2 Tip with about 100K miles. Use it as a daily driver (covers 70 miles a day). Right now, maybe once a week, on my way home from work, my car stalls just after I start the car when I stop after going in reverse out of the parking spot before I shift into drive. The car has been sitting for roughly 8 hours, so not sure why it stalls unless it's not getting fuel?
At the same time, I go in reverse down my driveway each morning and the car never stalls...the car has been sitting a bit longer (12-14 hours) but has driven home prior the same distance.
Odd, can't figure it out.

LOL...that is odd. Problem solved - Back into the parking spot. Okay then, when you back up, do you put it in N and hesitate? Or immediately move into D? Try R, then N for a few seconds, then D. Let us know what happens then....
Might be fuel related. Technically, backing up does put the fuel in the line in a negative pressure situation, but you said that the engine dies when you stop, which is a similar condition to accelerating while going forward. Unless you stop hard and the car rocks back and forth.
Either way, when was the last time the fuel filter was changed? Does it make any difference if the tank is full or empty?

I think the fuel filter may be the issue, or the gas tank air pressure release valve as it's worse when tank is empty and I've had some issue filling gas tank with gas coming back up (i.e., air flow is comprimised)
