Thanks Jake! I'll dig deeper looking into the running clearances.
Also I wouldn't dream of using anything inappropriate for lubes and sealants. Any thoughts on using a dry lubricant like Quickseat?
Regarding workspace I've got three potential locations, but really want to maintain the 72 deg temp throughout the build so the garage is out. Think the smell from my hockey gear already designates the house a hazmat area.

The only way you can't go wrong is by directing these questions to the manufacturers of the components that you are using. It's their product, and it's their place to support that product.

A couple of weeks ago some guy called and literally told me that he was afraid to push the main bearings into the crankshaft carrier firmly because he was concerned about "breaking a nail".

I'm sure he probably had a lumberjack beard, was wearing a plaid shirt, with skinny jeans, and had a man bun. He probably "moisturizes" 3 times per day.

Sweet Jeebus! My vegetable oil post got blown out of proportion real quick.
To the OP, keep going dude! The piston that had the cylinder cracked, doesn't look like it ran for long with lots of coolant going into it or else the piston top would look brand new.

So now for the fun stuff...
First parts to get sent out were the cylinder heads. Got them down to Len Hoffman in early December, and got them back early February. Focus was to get the heads to really complement the bump to 3.8L. Ended up going with the oversized intake valves, Stage 1 porting (intake side only), and new guides and springs. Probably overkill. What really sold me was him saying "This will be the cheapest power you're adding to the motor"
Pool table (covered) should make for a decent workspace
Oversized intake valves (38mm vs 37mm)
Stage 1 porting on the intake side. Nothing done on the exhaust side

Next thing to get shipped off was the IMS to LN for their rebuild service. Also took advantage of their Black Friday sale and saved 20% on the IMS Solution. Actually got it back within a week.

Engine case made it to LN a couple days before Xmas. Had them back with 101mm Nickies in just under 7 weeks. George was pleasure to speak to throughout the process. Should be doing the pre-build cleaning shortly.

So now we're all caught up. Calibration weights were delivered today so I weighed the JE pistons and wrist pins. Shouldn't have any problem pairing this set
