Considering a '99 911 Carrera 4 Cab
My first post here, so be kind.
Looking for a DD to keep miles off my 2013 Supercharged 427 Corvette--don't need that level of performance, but thinking a 911 would work well.
Considering a 1999 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet with 57,900 miles and reportedly an IMS bearing replacement documented. Being sold by a private party for $20K.
Before I travel 500 miles to check it out, and get a PPI, curious if at 6'3" I'll feel cramped in the car?
Any particular issues in this year/model I need to be especially watching for? (I have run searches but not finding much)
Thanks in advance for your help!

I am 6'6" and the best mod I have done so far is the console delete. Makes a big difference on leg room. No problem with head room without a helmet but I have a coupe so not sure if there is a difference with a cab.

Depends on your proportions. I'm 6-4 long torso. Head room is tight, legroom not problem. Has to mount my race seat to floor to fit with helmet. Also mounted smaller diameter momo steering wheel for thigh room. Transformed driving position.

I’m 6.0’ tall, and my 99 Cab driver seat is all the way at the floor, and I’ve got just enough headroom. As soon as I put on a helmet, it touches the ceiling.
Also, while these cars have low acquisition costs, plan for $2-5k/yr, on average, for maintenance and repairs.

Where are you located? There are numerous 996s available, especially cabs, wondering why you need to travel 500 miles for this particular one. Good luck, dont rush.
I’m 6’2” and no problem fitting in coupe, though with helmet on it’s tight but doable.

Does your maintenance cost estimate include DIY, or is it all dealer/independent repair?

I really like low miles, 1-Owner cars (MUST be Red Verts!); 500 miles would be a short trip!

Whats the best source of manuals for DIY projects like a console removal?

Drifting
None more than any other 20 year old car. It will have those weird things that come up when rubber gets dry or rotten, plastic gets brittle from heat cycles, etc. They're very DIY friendly cars in my opinion. They like to be driven and it sounds like that is your plan. It should treat you pretty well. Hope you're able to pick one up!
Cheers
