Default Best Way to Sell 2001 Cab

I hvae had my 2001 Midnight Blue Cab for about 2 1/2 yrs and got the bug for a 997. I bought a 997 last mo and want to sell the 996 this spring when the buying season is going strong. When should I start and where should I list it? It's got 31k mi, new tires, ims, rms, water pump etc.

Join RL and list it here in the classifieds. Craig's List is good, but you will waste lots of time with BSers.

With that low mileage and service history I’d try Bring a Trailer.

BaT is a good option - just be prepared for dealing with the "Peanut Gallery". It's not that difficult, just get the IMS questions sorted out early in the auction and you'll be fine.

Were you happy with BAT? Communications, timeliness, easy to work with?

BaT if it’s a clean example. Facebook Marketplace, forums, CL. I’ve had good luck with FB marketplace.

You gotta to do a lot of photo and presentation work and it takes about a month to get a car on bat after being submitted. If you can do some photography and videos it usually does fine. If the ims is done and you have service records it’s a pretty good bet. Lots of cars have been having underwhelming results and there are tons of trolls there now. So be careful. Half the cars I put on there did super well I had a few break even. One was a disaster. Google your vin too and make sure the Carfax is clean. I wouldn’t put a car up with any history or skeletons. Those guys on the peanut gallery will ruin your sale and the auction will be associated with your vin for life.

How about ebay? Or is that a waste of time. And when should I list? Mar? April? May?

I tried selling a car on ebay once and the buyer never came through (one week before my move from VA to HI) putting me in a panic situation with my relocation.

My one experience with eBay was terrible. Had a guy interested in a car and we agreed on a price. He no-showed then left me a negative review saying the car was full of rust, without seeing it.

Unless your car is in excellent condition, don't list it on Rennlist. Since this a technical forum for Porsches, "we eat our own" and it will be picked apart and them lowballed at best. Try the usual avenues, Auto Trader, BAT and so on.

I like cargurus. It's free. I posted my Targa recently and had a few interested within a week. Car i was looking at to replace my Targa was sold before I could sell mine, so I removed my listing.

A second for Cargurus, it's where I mostly look for stuff I currently want. Doesn't have the volume of say Autotrader but the examples are better IMO. The pricing models they use for the "Deals" seems pretty fair, also. My 996 Tip I believe has the original IMS so I could never sell it here lol...
