So my car has been with FSI since June and I have now been reunited with it. As background, it is a 2003 C4S with 105,000 miles, had all the recommended maintenance (including IMS/RMS/t-stat/deep sump/magnetic plug/spin-on filter) done at 65K.
My car was running perfect and chose to do an elective rebuild. Since I track it about 4 weekends a year, I elected for the 3.8 track prepared rebuild option.
I have put less than 200 miles on the car but good god, it pulls like a freight train!
The reason for my post is to say if you love your car, plan to keep it and are on the fence of having it rebuilt by FSI, I recommend you go fo it!
Oh and the sound, and I haven’t even gone through a tunnel yet! Came back to me in style!

You made the right decision by going with Flat 6 Innovations. Jake Raby runs a top notch shop, second to none. Many people just "rebuild" these engines, but not Flat 6 Innovations. That's what I admire about this man and his team. They've looked closely at the M9X engines and found ways to correct the failings of the factory design. If it wasn't for Raby, most of these cars would probably be ready for the landfill, IMHO.

The sound...RIGHT?! I just recently got my "lowly" little Stage 1 engine back from Jake and am truly in love with the sound north of 3500 rpm!
Reading all of your comments make me want to upgrade. It’s quite an expense but sounds like the final element to make these cars special. We did a type 4 following the general Raby build and it’s a beast.

What kind of improvement can you find in this performance upgrade besides a better built motor? Top speed, 0-60, 60-120?
Top speed? The only comment I have for this is that if you get anywhere close to it and get caught, the police will take your car, and you'll probably spend some time in jail... Don't go there (unless you're on a track or the salt flats...)! The FSI built motors are NIGHT and DAY from the stock motor - and they'll last... I can't/won't quote you #'s but the performance difference is not subtle in the least.
