Default Mufflers full of coolant (not mine)

A friend picked up a roller (3.6) that is flooded with coolant. Gallons came out of the exhaust but runs fine.
Thoughts?

I like to see a video of that, gushing out coolant when the engine is still running "fine"

They pulled the plugs and pumped as much out as they could then it started right up and runs fine I'm told...Would a failed AOS also cause something like this?

Are you sure it's coolant and not just mufflers full of water from, say, a kid playing with a hose or something?

Coolant actually in the cylinders? Wow. Yes, a failed AOS could cause that, or the heat exchanger, or a cracked cylinder head. And yet, now it runs fine? Does the coolant level drop when it runs?

As of late yesterday the coolant was not topped off. Will learn more later.

How would this work?

The only way coolant can get in the combustion chambers, and then into the exhaust, would be cracked bores, cracked head or compromised head gasket. And since we all know it's not the head gasket, that leaves the two other possibilities.

On the other hand, there is no proof (so far) that this is coolant. There is a chance water may have entered externally through the exhaust outlets and found its way into any open exhaust valves. Any flood events in the history of this car?

@808Bill : since you post a lot of rollers on here - was this one of the cars we've looked at?

No, this one in Florida that a friend picked up. I don't know the full story yet, but will share as I get more info over the next few days.

Default My 2cents

(I'll watch for future postings about this anomaly.)

Whatever the cause (source?) of the coolant, it will be expensive to repair.

At this point, I suspect lingering flood damage, and/or head gasket leakage.

Either they miss-assumed coolant instead of plain water/other liquid, or there is a serious problem (cracked cylinder/head) and they are being overly optimistic (runs fine?) ..
