Default 12V Sockets...how many?

I've searched and searched and still feel like I'm missing something. Is there an additional 12V socket besides the one mounted next to the radio?

I have only seen the one. Have you heard about another? Why do you feel like you are missing something?

I had read somewhere that there may have been one in the passenger side footwell. Never had that on my 986, didn't think it was on my new 996, but would love it if so

I think it moved on the next generation 997, but honestly have never looked for that when driving my friend’s 997.

In the 996 there is a 4 prone plug back there that's switched 12v. It is intended for the Porsche Phone equipment. it is behind the plate at the footwell, you can get to it from both driver and passenger side. I bought a 2 usb port thing and plugged into it to give myself 2 usb charging ports.

I went to hardware store and found a male side that fit. It looks like the old school PC power supply plug into the back of Hard drives. But the PC version is just a little smaller.

Nope, not in the 996 I own or have been in.

I added one into the side using a GM flap door plug. I just tied it into the existing power port. Easy.

I got mine form ebay. Any flap door trim will allow a standard power socket to fit.

I used a relay from the phone plug, and converted my socket to a 'switched' socket.

Going to be mounting this one in the passenger footwell, tapped off the phone plug:

That looks a little bulky. I am sure you could find smaller and cleaner ones.
Here is another tread to show some of the locations of the phone plug. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...always-on.html
