That looks a little bulky. I am sure you could find smaller and cleaner ones.
Here is another tread to show some of the locations of the phone plug. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...always-on.html

If you plan to just have wires sticking out, you do not need these. In my car, I have the following devices hardwired, with wires coming out the appropriate location:
- Radar Detector
- Dash Cam
- iPod cable powered to an ipod classic
- iPhone cable with apple car play
I have 2 phone charging cords coming out the side of the arm rest console for charging phones. I hardwired the connection using a relay so that all my deices are switchable powered. I just break apart a cigarette lighter adapter with dual USB, remove the contact pins, solder wire leads coming out it, then tape it back up with electrical tape. I then splice the wire leads into my power source wires directly. Then I plug my USB device in.
I use something like this:

Just installed this last night.....was super simple. I took the little trim piece off the side that is aft of the carpet piece, but no need to. Anyways, here are some pictures. Here is the USB port I used:
I took the carpet piece off, figured out where the socket would fit, pulled the phone harness out, the brown is the ground and the red (I believe it is stripped also) on the other end is the positive. They are unswitched, I left it that way. I used insulation displacement connectors and an inline fuse that comes with the unit. Used a Dremel and Exacto knife to cut the plastic and carpet. Screw it on, re-install the carpet piece.

Keep in mind that the 4 prong phone outlet has one switched and one unswitched power supply and a ground. I wired in a 12 volt socket and a splitter, drives my gps and my radar detector.
