You’re gonna love 3rd & 4th gears, end of story! 5th and 6th to save some gas and cruising at 90+. 3k in 6th is quiet and boring, but on long flat highways it’s a change of pace and you still have tremendous acceleration at your command should you need it.
My car has factory sports exhaust, not sure how that impacts my perceived “sweet spot” sound wise vs other 996s. Have fun, the car wants to go, let it!

I suggest you start mapping routes, hotels and restaurants etc. Find out if any of us (not me) will be near by (state to state) in case you need help. Get the car, eat a big meal then go to Walmart and get cooler stocked up for a road trip! This should be a fun trip...Keep us posted.

Hwy 48 and parts of 50 are an ***-kicker road in a 911. True enjoyment. But - watch out for local boys coming into the small towns on the route. Have a detector working on that section.
