Question Plastic in sump

Hello all! Long time Rennlist stalker, first time poster....

I have a 2000 Carerra, tip, new to me, with all things maintenance supposedly up to date. I decided to have my IMS done with a trusted indy and in his inspection he found the cam angle on 1 to be -8.16 and on 2, -3.67. There was no variability to the angle so chain rails and tensioners / cam rails are suspected. There are, however, plastic bits in the sump. The suspicion is that these are parts of the cam rails, maybe an o-ring, but I was hoping for some input from all of you. I'm worried it's a IMS chain rail.

While we're at it, we're doing IMS Solution, AOS, RMS, water pump, thermostat. Any other must-dos while the engine is out?

Thanks all!

Looks like the plug well seals. See this thread:

Also, here is my thread from a similar situation:

I never found the well seals in the sump, but definitely the hard plastic bits from the cam adjuster pads. You can see them in the pics there.

I'm currently replacing cam chain guides after finding these bits in my sump. Mine is an '02 with the three chain engine. I get the car back today and will take pics of the guides that were replaced.

Do you know if the spark plug tubes have been replaced. These bits could be chewed up green o-rings on the tubes. It's less likely the small green o-ring of the variocam actuator unless you have any drivability issues or a CEL.

Damn, don't they have to do the pre-qualification process for the IMS Solutiion? Seems like this is gonna a tough one...

I hadn't thought of the plug well seals. I did the plugs not too long ago and I certainly could have damaged one. Thanks.

No CELs or drivability issues. I haven't changed the oil since I did the plugs... I certainly could of damaged one or two. Thanks!
