996 C2 Cab - manual operation of convertible top
Hi there, about a month ago I had to manually raise the convertible top on my 2001 996 C2 since it was below freezing and I was installing a rear view camera. I manually put the top down afterward and yesterday, when I went to raise the roof with the rocker switch, the warning light flashes and the top doesn't move. The engine was running in Park and the parking brake was on. I opened and closed the engine compartment lid and there were no other warning lights illuminated other than the one flashing re: the top..
In the owners manual it says to drive to my dealer to service the top after manual operation, but I believe it is working correctly so would like to avoid this if possible.
Is there a way to do the reset myself instead of driving to the dealer? Would an independent garage be able to reset vs. going to the dealer? I've tried disconnecting the battery to reset but doing so has no effect.
Thanks

I’m not an expert, but my understanding is that once roof is manually operated it needs to be synchronized and this can only be done with Porsche analyzer computer. Durametric will not reset roof. Hopefully I am wrong, but you may be in for a trip to dealer or Indie with PWIS.

Durametric has a top recalibration function but I am not sure that it works properly. Of course a dealer is going to charge a minimum of an hours labor even if it only takes 10 minutes if that.

Yep, I have read it’s a dealer job. Which I find puzzling, you think you could do it manually or power assisted. I have a leak in one of my lines, I have to add fluid about every 3 months but I dare not drop the top manually.

Thanks for the feedback - I will check with my independent shop to see if they can do it before contacting the dealer. Agreed that it will be a minimum of an hour, but at least the independent shop has lower rates than the dealership.
