Default Best bet for induction sound

I’m contemplating changing out the stock airbox to improve the sound of my 2000 C2. Last year I️ got the Fister mod done to the exhaust, and while it definitely improved the sound of the car, something is still missing. That something is the induction noise. I’ve listened to a few before/after Fabspeed videos on YouTube and I️ can definitely hear “the sound” I’m looking for, but $895 is pretty steep for what you get, carbon fiber aside.

What are my options?

I️ don’t care about power and even more so I️ dont want to cause any issues.

Search the forums for "orange cap mod" (it's practically a zero cost modification that bypasses the Hemholtz resonator in the air box), or spring for one of the silicone intake tubes available online ($30 on eBay). Either should give you increased induction sounds.

If you are looking for nice noises and don’t care about power increases, the IPD competition plenum with a GT3 throttle body is a nice setup.

I have the Fabspeed comp intake. The Youtube videos don't do this thing justice. The sound is amazing. I got mine brand new off ebay. Got it from a seller called "Built not bought" (click here) and he had a "make an Offer" option. I offered $750.00 and it was accepted. It shipped directly from fabspeed and i had it in days. There is another thread right now called MAF value = Horsepower Potential. There is some interesting numbers on that thread that help support Fabspeeds +24HP claim.

Won't that set him back about $800.00?

So, owning this, would you say that it sounds something like a more modern GT3? That’s what I lust after. When I️ watch videos of newer GT3’s I️ think they sound amazing.

I️ think I’ll try the orange cap mod first before jumping into something higher dollar. Thanks for the suggestion!

I would say it sound great and i wouldn't swap it for anything. That being said i don't think anything can compare to a newer GT3 except a newer GT3. They may both be Porsche's but that's about all that is the same. Two completely different engines. I also wanted my car to sound badass and the stock configuration did nothing for me. All the research i did resulted in two sides when it came to intakes. Half the population says to leave the stock box as it flows the best. The other half said changing it will give you a tone you will like but no power increase and if anything a power loss. I decided since Fabspeed has been around for awhile, responds to most forums, and can provide data to prove power increase, i would opt to go with them. It also helped that their website shows they deal in nothing but exotics. Now with the thread i posted about earlier possibly proving some hp potential i am really impressed. I have had mine for over 10 months with no issues at all. No check engine lights. The only bad part is i am the only one who drives my car. I don't trust anyone else so i don't know what the car sounds like as a flyby. A few of my friends tell me the car sounds insane. Maybe one day i will find out not being in the drivers seat.

I have the IPD plenum and GT3 ported tb (along with a lot of other goodies), and it sounds nothing like a modern gt3. A member here installed a GT3 center muffler on his 996 and it sounds awesome. Probably more of what you're looking for.

Default If not ENUF

add some Nitromethane.

You won't have any IMS or RMS issues, very long
