I would be patient and find a used engine. I’ve seen some engines out there in the wild for cheap (like $3.5-$6k).

I agree 100%, I just recently picked up a 101k mile engine pulled from a running car for $2500 that is to have an LS3 engine and extensive body transformation on it. So there are engines available for any budget if you are patient and look for it. If money is no object and you are just "done" with it, then price it cheap, let someone else fit there budget and move on with something else.
