Default which SILVER paint for our WHEELS?

One of my car's wheels has curb rash and I'm fixing it while waiting for new tires to come in. Advance Auto has a product brand called, "Dupli-Color", and there are a lot of choices with brand names like Ford, GM, Toyota, Honda, etc. Which of these matches most closely?

I've used Wurth on MB wheels, but it is too metallic for Porsche. Does anybody know what paint works best?

I tried to use the supposedly correct Wurth silver on an SL MBZ as well as another batch of the same kind of paint on a set of Mahle wheels I was refinishing for a 914 to sell. Both proved to be correct looking, but the cans would sputter and splotch and neither sprayed well.Yes, they were shaken well and sprayed at mild temperatures, as directed. I ended up with Krylon "Dull Aluminum" which did well and looked nice after a couple coats and then clearing them. Don't know if you could get by on just one wheel and expect it to match though..

It's been several years, so maybe the Wurth Silver is the way to go. The wheel got 3 coats of the Advance paint, and 3 coats of Clear. When it's dry in the morning, I'll see how it matches.

any single stage paint in a spray can is going to be less durable than a proper two part catalyzed paint and/or clearcoat.
To paint just one wheel it's probably Wurth it

Agree regarding durability of typical spray paint. There actually is a 2-part clear coat available in a spray can. First, my disclaimers: 1) I have never tried this stuff; 2) I don't know if it's compatible with Wurth; and 3) you need a respirator and gloves to apply, but this is a 2-part clear coat in a spray can ->
Amazon Amazon
).

It would be interesting to hear if anyone has experience with the above with wheel painting.

I tried DuraLast in the Toyota can, with Dura Last Clear. It came out with a slight goldish tint compared to the original. Not crazy-different, but different when you look at them and when you're trying to find a difference. Since I'm replacing all 4 tires, the same-side other wheel with get the same paint/clear.

If I had the time.....er, made the time.....I'd order up Wurth, because there are too many other silvers to try to experiment with them.

More to the process, though, is that curb rash is something that almost any DIYer can do. Metal or Wet/Dry sandpaper, bondo, glazing compound, old credit card, alcohol (both types are useful) paint, clearcoat, and time are all your friends.

The YouTube videos tell you to use Metal Filling Bondo. That might be worthwhile with hard bumps, but normal curb rash doesn't need structural filling; it just needs to be filled. Normal Bondo is easier to find, and less coin to buy it.
