Anyone have info on this 996
New to the site and 996’s- longtime car building and now obsessed with these Porsche’s. Found this one for sale. It’s heavily modified (body wise) and I’ve seen plenty of pics of it on the internet. Just trying to find some history. I have it on hold but trying to decide if the money is justifiable or buy a lower priced car and do my own mods. Any thoughts is greatly appreciated.

Not sure of the car's history, but my recommendation would be to do a THOROUGH mechanical PPI. The car clearly looks impressive/beautiful. The danger is that it's a lot of makeup on a pig. Though body kits and paint can be extremely expensive (I didn't even look at the price, but I'd guess mid $20k's), the engine is by far the single most expensive part that's most likely to go BOOM!

Wow, I took a look at all the pictures, and that car is amazing.
With 91K miles, I'd says it is worth $18-20K.
Another $10K for all the bodywork would be on the high end, but likely they spent much MUCH more.
If I were looking for a 996 or 997 and had a $30K budget, I'd likely go for it if the engine is in good shape.
If I had a mid to high-30s budget, I'd look for a 996 Turbo.
The engine needs a 997 airbox, or Fabspeed.
Either would look a LOT better.

That car definitely "looks the part" and is worth 30k if that's what you want. It will fool every one going down the road. It will fool most people at the local "cars and coffee". It will fool many at the local Porsche gathering. It presents its self well as a much newer and 100k+ car, but hard core enthusiasts will notice the difference. That's the main drawback, you will be accused of being a "symposer" by the Porsche Gods.
