New Key Fob and Airbag light
Hello, New here, I have a 996 cab 2000, and I wanted to know if there is a system that I can do to program the key fob to work with my car. Like the Durametric or the icarsoft II.

Hi and welcome, some more detail is required.
Do you have a new key that you've bought? If so does the key have the key tag with the keys code on it? If it doesn't the remote cannot be programmed.
Also you cant program a key to a 996/986 you program the car to the key. Cannot be done with a Durametric but can be done with a PIWIS - however you need an IPAS code which only the OPCs have - they wont give them to you.
In summary you will need to make a trip to the dealership.

You can change over the pills and then get the dealership to program the fob

Ah Ok, because I transffered the old pill with the board over to the new fob. Thing is the old fobed never work either to unlock the car, Only to start it and drive it. I know I keep sounding repeatative. Just trying to avoid going to the dealership and looking for a way for myself to do it.

The old fob circuit board will never work unless you or your dealer have the codes that came with the fob you are trying to program. The codes look like this white tag. There is no way to do it yourself, and without the numbers in the boxes that came with the fob even the dealer will not be able to program it.
Also, it’s not programming the fob to the car, it’s programming the car to the fob.

The circuit board is the culprit and is a very common issue. If you want to get the remote lock/unlock working you will have to transfer the pill to the new fob (which you have done), but keep the new circuit board. You will have to take the new fob with the old pill, new circuit board, and the ID tag that came with the new fob to the dealer to make it work with your car. It can cost hundreds of dollars, depending on the dealer.
Alternatively you can buy a new remote system and install it yourself for under $100.

PIWIS software and interface cable to program the car and knowledge to do it.
The car’s computer can be programmed for 5 keys total, forever. Once programmed, those codes cannot be erased, so to add a new one, there has to be vacant “space” in order for it to be added. Every car came with 2 from the factory, so that leaves room for 3 additional keys. If somewhere along the car’s history keys were lost and replaced then it reduces the number of new keys that can be programmed. Maybe this isn’t a concern for you, but could become a problem for cars that have had many owners.

It's the cars individual IPAS code that's the issue and to be honest it's not an issue the unobtainability of this code is keeping your car safe.
There are independents and individuals that have the same PIWIS equipment to program the car - it's the cars code that can't be obtained.
interesting regarding the number of spots of keys only being used once I was under the impression these spots could be overwritten.
OP your best best if you want remote locking and unlocking is to purchase a key from the dealership or a reputable online vendor and have the dealership program it.
There is a guy on here that can apparently revive used keys (if they aren't dead) not sure about that though.
