Track Tires - What Do You Use for a Dedicated Track Tire
Looking for advice about tires. I've always tracked on my street tires (Yokohama AD08R) but just recently got a set of track wheels so I can have a set of dedicated track tires. For you guys that swap tires for the track - what tires do you use? I'm undecided about going to slicks or staying with a streetable track tire. Also, I don't have a trailer but I remember seeing someone hauling his track tires inside a 997. Anyone do this in a 996? Should be doable, no? My tires sizes will be 245 front and 315 rear (track). Street tires are 225 and 285. All 18 inch diameter of course.

I've had good luck w PSC2's
consistent over the laps, long tread life (oxymoron for track tires).

I've been running Rt615k+ as my street and track tire, does everything well and almost always has meant every track day leaving as FTD... trying out the Yoko a052 soon as the weather is above freezing
used to run different street and track setups on past cars, missed the grip on the street...

Bridgestone RE71R. I's all I use anymore. They wear out super quick, but are the grippiest and most predictable tires I have used. My new set arrives tomorrow. Willows Springs Intl Raceway this weekend.

All good options. I highly recommend the Hankook RS4 - almost as grippy as the RE71r, but with significantly better tread life and predictability all the way down to the cords. They work great in the wet when new - and are nearly as quick as the slicks (Toyo RR) required on my spec E46 race car.
I’ve run then on my old 996 and use them as a DE tire on my 993. You will also see these in heavy rotation at endurance races - when in doubt go with a tire that lasts and is fast for hours of use and abuse.
