Zanzibar Red
How common is this colour? I've never seen a 911 in this colour in person (although I've seen a picture (below) of a UK-spec GT3 in the colour, gorgeous!) and was wondering if anyone here had one.

An issue of excellence, last year sometime, said that something silly like .3% of porsche's in NA were Zanzibar...AS, PS, and SG made up 56%...
in 2003, Zanzibar was a special color, this year it is only available as a paint to sample..

a good friend of mine has a zanzibar red 996C4S. at first, it looked strangely orange to me. but if has grown on me. it's red, not orange and it's a very very striking either you love it or hate it to death color. looks very nice on the widebodies. unfortunately i don't have a pix of it to post.

Even though silver is the classic 911 colour, it's just getting a little boring seeing one silver/grey 911 after another. The classic Porsches in bold colours (Signal Orange, Viper Green, etc) are the desired models to buy now so I was thinking that someone with the foresight to buy an "orange" 911 now might be able to cash in later down the road. Just a thought.

Personally, I like it. But there is a second hand one that has been languishing in my local OPC for the last year - so obviously an acquired taste.
Already fantasising about my 997.
What do you think of Slate grey. Which colour of leather best suits?

Well, Guards Red is a classic although red is a little out of style at the moment and the Speed Yellow is gorgeous on the 996 body. I really like the retro looks of the 996 GT3RS (white with blue wheels/graphics preferably) but it might be a little garish for a daily driver. Not bright, but I love the 911 in black too and of course, silver looks awesome but I'd want my new 911 to stand out. I've always liked bright blues like Gulf Blue and that retina-searing blue offered on the 993 RS.
I was talking to my dealer about having a GT3 painted to match the Tangerine Orange on my 69 and after he stopped laughing, he told me that Porsche can colour match any colour you want, for extra cash, of course.
The wild colours really worked on the older cars, possibly because of the chrome trim, but I'd really like to see the return of interesting colours to the sports car market. I think Nissan has a winner with that metallic orange it offers on the 350Z, especially when it's optioned with the matching orange and black leather interior. Sports cars are special, why paint them like a minivan?

I agree.
Though the varying light conditions make a difference,
Speed Yellow looks great in Italy.
White looks fine in California.
In rainy Glasgow, it's a different matter.
Some of these bright blues are cool. I would buy Zanzibar too....but wouldn't want to suffer at resale time.
Talking of retro, will plaid upholstery come back into style?

When I got my speed yellow Boxster S, I saw a zanzibar red boxster at dealership. I really liked the color, I wanted it for the GT3 I ordered but it was too much extra money and dealer said it would delay production. I went with guards red instead. I think Lotus has a similar color for the Elise.
