Burning Brakes
Hi! Because the owner I bought the car from recently passed away, I have no idea what fabspeed he has on nor if he had mufflers take out etc. I will bring it to a mechanic and let him check it out and get back to you! I love how it sounds and would love to drive with it, however as a daily driver, the drone just isn't practical! Ill keep you posted!

Hey guys, Scott here from Fabspeed, sorry you're not in love with your Fabspeed set up. Any idea what system you have? 996 take to the Maxflo's very nicely, the Supercup is a bit more aggressive. We typically recommend the Supercup for more track use, however many of my customers like either one for daily driving. Take a look under your car and let me know what system you have, I'll reach out and PM you directly!
here is my car with super cups on the track,

Yea it sounds amazing! I think I probably have super cups but won't know until I take it to a mechanic tomorrow or the day after. Thinking about getting the Maxflos if it turns out to be super cups.

before u do anything..make sure the mufflers arent touching the metal rod that attached the bumper to the chassis..
on my 997 the maxflos were touching and it felt like a droning at all rpms inside the cabin and now i have the supercups and they are way louder but when your cruising they dont really bother

I have another thought about this. I purchased my 996.2 about a year ago (~60K mi.)and it had the same configuration exhaust as in Scott's first photo, maxflo's, fabspeed headers, and factory cats. I wouldn't characterize the sound as a drone, but it was very loud and raucous at all RPM's. My wife said she could hear me coming down our street a block away. At full throttle, it almost sounded like open headers. After a short time I started hearing a rattling sound at idle. Did some troubleshooting and determined one of the cats had a loose element, apparently a fairly common problem. Decided to put on the FVD X-pipe with 200 cell cats. Well, this made a huge difference in sound. Of course the rattle was gone, but the exhaust is much quieter, but with a subtle sporty sound at low RPM's. But put your foot in it, and it really wakes up, with a race car sound that is amazing. I am guessing both cats were shot causing the excessive noise. So you might have a look at your cats, as they may be the culprit.

cssource, I'm in LA and have Maxflo's. I've been looking for something more aggressive. The two post lift in my home garage would make the swap easy if you're interested, but I would like to hear them in person first. I haven't heard a good sound clip of the super cups with the OEM cats in place.
