Default another wet 996

I've got a 2001 996 that is leaking somewhere in the back shelf area. Any ideas?

BTW I've got three 996's and they all leak. The other 2 have wet front foot-wells if left out in the rain. I've had the sunroof drains cleaned/blown out in the sedan and have had the rear drains cleaned/blown out in the cab... no help. Now the turbo sedan is wet in the rear shelf. How prevalent of a problem is this for the 996 line of cars?

Don't get me wrong; 'love the cars, hate the wet interior.

Possible the lines/fittings came undone or cracked.

I'm not familiar with the sunroof as I have cab. Unless they've gone back, the TSB calls for updated grommets with no lines from front and rear cab drains. Some info below, you could probably find a youtube video with a bit of searching.

I would suggest checking if the sunroof drains are actually draining. You can open the sunroof and pour a small amount of water in the opening to see if it drains. Both sides left and right. At the bottom of the drain tubes, behind the rear wheel well liners, you will find a flap valve that tends to get clogged up and not allow the water to drain out. If the drains are working properly, when you pour a small amount of water in the sunroof, you should see two spots of water on the ground just ahead of the rear wheels. The front drains just run out to the ground as well. Given that our cars are 15+ years old, could be the sunroof seals need replacing.

Could be that one of the drain lines has become detached as well. Parcel shelf wet is sunroof drains. Footwell or under seat water might be the front drains are clogged. Have you checked for water in the two areas next to the battery?

This is a problem that a lot of Cabriolet owners suffer from. Unfortunately, since Porsche decided to mount the alarm/immobilizers under the seats, the problem, if not solved in time, will become very expensive. My best advice is to vacuum *all* drains on the car not just the sunroof drains alone.

It'll be a fun project to use my New Lift for!!

Kevin at UMW recommended that I buy a Danmar Max Jax. I just got it bolted to my garage floor and filled with hydraulic fluid... I might as well get a car up on it and see if it works as well as he said it did. https://www.maxjaxusa.com/

Alternately, if the bolts pull out of the concrete and it all tips over at least the car is well insured! Joking; thx for the referral Kevin.

Window seals would be my first guess for the back shelf area.
