Parts arrived a day early!!! I dig that!

Out with the old yesterday, in with the new after work today.

Figures the only cracking coil I found was the first one I pulled to inspect LOL oh well, now i’ll have spares

Plugs look ok. The rear most plug on my passenger side is darker than the rest. Any idea why that may be?

Ordered new O-Rings also. Nothing looks like its leaking or loose however so I may just reinstall plugs and coils and get the car back together.

Warehouse33 FTW!!

More progress!!

Beru plugs and Coils went on smoother than expected.

Had to get creative with the heat shield as the 997 coils are considerably fatter than originals. Luckily i had a couple extra hex nuts laying around and used two sets of original coil bolts to space out the heat shields

Sally never ran smoother!!! None of the fluttering that she previously did at startup.

Next up: Fister install!

Got the brackets mounted to the mufflers and the setup mounted loosely onto the car. This step is much easier using a lift or lying completely on my back as the car sits now on jack stands

Kids bath time came sooner than expected (time flies when youre having fun) so i’ll have to finish the install next chance I get. Likely Sunday after work.

Good things come to those.... dammit I wanna hear my Fisters!!!

So fresh, so clea

Shame the rest of the motor isnt this clean

Even fresher!!!

Shame these will be covered up

I like it!

I'm confused. Why did you go with 997 coils?

Can't wait to hear the exhaust. Seems like one of the best mods for these cars.

There is no way I could've left the engine like that! A few applications of Oil Eater Citrus spray, and then a final application of P21S (much more expensive than Oil Eater, but seems to do a little better job) would clean up things pretty nicely! My citrus cleaners are always around when I am working on my cars.

The 997 coils are whats calles for as the current replacement.

i’ll have to pick some of those cleaners up. Ive been scrubbing on this motor for a while, i’ll use anything that might work! Engine out this winter so everything WILL get cleaned up one way or another lol

I cant wait to hear the exhaust either... Legoland today so we’ll see how I feel tonight when we get home...

Question of the day:

Is there an exhaust setup that would delete these damn side brackets and make maintenance like this easier? Center exit maybe?

Or:

Can these exhaust brackets be modified to be removable with the engine still in the car?

On my 1978 Honda CB750, we modified the frame so i can remove the valve cover while the motor is still in the frame

It's 3 bolts and a clamp to pull the muffler. Real easy job!

You think the Fister cans are worth it? It just seems so expensive since we are on the opposite coast. They do look pretty. I am tempted to just do the bypass since its not a DD and I like loud cars.

Muffler removal is easy, the bracket that holds the mufflers to the car impedes plug/coil removal...
