Default Oil Fill Tube Repair

Hey I'm a fan of the brand and thought this would help those with the inevitable file fill tube fracture .
Although may not be the first to do this....but did not find this in any of my searches?
Basically this should work for all 996 and more if you have the same issue...997 and after if similar?
As you know replacing the oil fill tube unit as complete oem unit is a real PITA!
So here's what I did.....all from your local hardware store.
Purchase a 2" - 1.5" rubber drain reducer flexible coupler for about $5 bucks (Fernco)
Flexible pipping is approx. 52mm / 2". Solid tube to the cap 38mm / 1.5 ".
Trim the separated oil fill tube at cap end of the excess broken connection FOD.
I actually trimmed even more that in the images so there was just small lip for seating.
Work small end of the coupler on said separated fill tube without the hose clamps.(Yes its tight but you can do it!)
Trial fit on the 52mm flexible end and adjust do there is no additional tension .(Yes it did already break once!)
Snug up the hose clamps and VOILA! ( Yes full replacement would be the BEST but I'll do that when my alternator fails..)
Hope this helps!

I did something similar as a temporary measure until I have time to properly replace it. The down side to this fix is that your car gets hit by a Mack truck shortly afterwards. Ask me how I know.

It does work however.

That is actually a clever temporary repair. Thanks for sharing.

I bought something similar at Home Depot. Not exactly the same but it works. I have the replacement part on hand if my car ever comes back from the body shop.

I wonder how long it will hold up to the heat and oil?

Yeah I've thought about long term durability due to heat and oil.
Since it's vacuum situation and not near exhaust should be ok.
Rubber may get soft.....or may get really HARD! HA!
It's my daily drive so will know soon enough!
