Clicking Sound on Engine Shutdown
Hi all... 2001, 996 Cab with about 134K miles. Engine runs strong, good compressions. On every other engine shutdown or so, I get an unusual clicking noise. Just wondering if anyone else has heard something like this. I have a short video where you can hear it. It's a click right as the engine stops. Not sure if it's a problem or not so tossing it up here for some opinions.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

So tried a few times and there does not seem to be a correlation to clutch in and the noise. I experienced it at least once with the clutch in, but I'll test it again after the car has been driven harder. I couldn't get it to reliably make the noise clutch in or out.

Drifting
Darn. Some of us get a little drivetrain rattle on shutdown. However, with the clutch disengaged it goes away. In my case it's a 100% correlation. It shouldn't really matter how the car is driven beforehand. Best of luck - this was my only experience or semblance of wisdom I had to share, unfortunately.

Could be a belt tensioner too. The key is to figure out if it’s internal or outside the engine. If it’s internal it could be “chain slap” (bad tensioner bleeding down as the oil pressure drops)... that wouldn’t be good...

Yes, get someone underneath to try and locate the noise.
It‘s loud so it shouldn’t take too long to locate.
Use a long screwdriver to feel for vibration.
Anything that loud has to also vibrate.
A screwdriver will keep you(or your helper) from getting burned.
