I am sure I can find a good deal in my price range but would it even be worth searching out a salvaged? I found a 2007 for 19k (I wouldnt pay that, they seem flexible).

I would look at a few cars before making any decision. Even if a car is outside of your price range. Start locally, but search nationally. I ended up traveling 200 miles to get my car. There’s actually another car at the same dealer I bought mine from that’s been on sale for 18 month now. It’s got 80k-ish miles though.
