Yes they were the ceramic akebono pads.. If you anyone finds a set that will fit a turbo/c4s let me know because I will pick them up for sure..

Another vote for Akebono pads. Same here I use it on my BMW and virtually no dust and the initial bite regardless whether its cold or wet is just very good. However, they don't make them for Porsches. Perhaps they will eventually.

I agree. Akebono for no dust. I have had the ceramic Akebono EUR917 & EUR738 installed for about 10,000 miles now. 2004 C2.

I use them on My 99 996 at the track and for autocross. They do wear out after one season but at the lower cost they are the best value for performance. IMO

Drilled rotors will eat pads faster...
I try not to use my brakes as much as possible.

And another satisfied Akebono user. I have them on my CLK and my 99 C2. Brake dust is minimal and I can go weeks before I even think about cleaning the wheels. I got mine from Warehouse 33 and used the Rennlst discount.
For my 99, the front part number is 996-352-949-03 and the rears are 986-352-939-10.

No need to paint them, just wait a few days and they will be self-painted.

Below is what Akebono just sent me by email. My car is a 04 C4S.

Good morning, Mike –

Here is a note from our product development team: We have the EUR917’s listed for front and rear for Porsche 911’s, which in some applications is correct. BUT in his case, he’ll need the EUR917 for the front and EUR738 for the rears.

If you have additional questions please call our customer service line at 866.253.2666 (toll-free)

Thanks,

Amanda Konja, Asst. Marketing Manager

When I had these installed on an Audi A4 I agree the dust was extremely minimal, but I thought pedal effort was noticeably high across the board, not just on the first stop. It wasn't hard to stop the car or anything, but it did take noticeably more effort than stock Audi pads, and might be a turn-off for some.

For those of you with Ceramic Akebono pads, can you just use stock rotors? I am likely sticking with my Pagid yellows on my 996, but would love to try Akebono on my 997....maybe some other cars as well. My OCD is killing me with washing wheels everyday.
