Anyone have a used tail light?
I found this crack in my tail light when I went out to the car yesterday. The crack is big enough to notice, but not so big that I want to spend almost $600 on a new one. Ebay comes up empty for the "early" part number (996.631.495.00), will the later part number (996.631.415.00) fit? In any case, let me know if anyone has a decent used one laying around.
Thanks

If you check this out, they sell a LED pair of tail lamps for $479.95. Click on the 99663149500 part number and scroll to the bottom. Says plug and play. Might be a good upgrade.

I have one that you can have if you pay shipping...the only problem is one of the corners broke off about the 1/2 inch and epoxied back on....you cant really tell. If you can wait, I will get back home on the 19th and take a picture.

There are differences in the tail lamps. Your car appears to be narrow body, as opposed to C4S or turbo. The wide body lights will not fit. The are physically wider. The 98/99 lights are amber on top, as opposed to clear. The wide body tail lights are more prone to cracks, but the narrow body tail lights will crack too. My 3/98 build came with the amber lights (narrow body, of course) and they both had cracks, one of which allowed moisture into the light housing. I replaced them with a set of $300 LED tail lights and am very happy with them. I did have to swap some of the LEDs/bulbs around to illuminate the different sections the way I wanted. I attached a pic of the old lights (that were "smoked" with a clearcoat containing some black pigment) and a pic of the new lights on my 911 (parked next to my old Mustang GT).
