Default Fuel Pump?

never a good thing…

replaced the fuel pump a few years ago. Recently it started making noise again. A few weeks ago it would not start after I got home from a nice 1 hr drive. Started the next day fine. Then, started to hear intermittant whining from what sounded like fuel pump. Drove it to Rochester from Cleveland last week for 4 day member guest and ran/started fine every day. Then. filled up tank on way out of town and car would not start up. Sounded like getting no gas. Assuming these are signs of fuel pump crapping out again? I had to leave the car in Rochester, waiting for diagnosis and hope to pick it uper later this week! Hopefully nothing more serious.

It could very well be the fuel pump. Since it is relatively easy to access, I would remove the pump and bench test it.

I never had any issues with my Boxster S until one day, I filled it up full of gas at a gas station. Fuel pump failed. Car would start, then stall. Restarted and stalled a couple of times (like no gas), and then it would just turn over.

Replaced fuel pump solved the issue.

EDIT: What year is your car? Early cars have fuel filters that are replaceable.

My fuel pump went out the same way. Couldn't start the car after a fill up at the gas station. Easy fix!

^^ Starting in 2002, Porsche moved the fuel filter to inside the tank: https://www.pelicanparts.com/techart...uel_Filter.htm
