Did you loosen those inner CV joint bolts for servicing? They appear to be loose.

Sure! It's on eBay where he'll accept a reasonable offer for the spoiler. Note that there are 2 styles for the 996: early 996 front bumper and the Mk2 version.

I did two things today that I added to my car....
1) Added a sticker on the back window with a tribute to my friend....the Porsche Legend Bruce Leven
2) Added a new FVD shifter that I had changed to yellow to match my car

Gave my baby a bath this morning, then met a couple of friends from Lexington KY for some nice drives in western NC. Waynesville NC to Hot springs via “the rattler” route 209, then route 25 back to Asheville.

Put gas in it and drove the snot out of it.

Just like yesterday, and the day before, and the day before that.

125K miles with this puppy and still going...

Got these Tarett solid motor mounts in and took it out for a shake down/ test drive before the rain hit. So far I am impressed with the feel of the solid motor mount, I could notice a difference as soon as I fired up the car in the drive way. Interior vibration and engine noise has increased some due to losing the minimal absorption the original 20 year old mounts offered. Love the sound of the engine, so I don't mind the more pronounce noise in the cabin one bit.

Out of curiosity, what maintenance have you had to do since about 80k miles? Just wondering what the ongoing costs are to keep a high mileage 6.3 on the road.

Yeah, wait until you get it on the highway for a drive.

The increased road noise will be much more than you expected.

I went with the RSS mounts, which have some damping, but it still transfers the tire noise into the cabin significantly more than the OEM mounts.

However, it does feel a lot better!

Gas, oil, filters, tires.

One seal on the back of the engine. Water pump. Heater core. Coolant hose. Headlight switch.

I have 130K on the clock and it's about due for its first clutch. While I have the engine out I want to do: coil packs, plugs, pinning the coolant pipes, rubber hoses, Guards LSD, and a suspension refresh (probably Ohlins R&T).

These cars are extremely robust. Even the original clutch has lots of life and the Mezger engine is bulletproof. No IMS bearings nor cylinder issues. Even at this mileage it doesn't leak or consume any oil at all.

No, sir. It came stock. It's a true 2004 GT3.

I got really lucky and stumbled across it at my local dealer in 2006. Had 5,500 miles on it. Couldn't believe it was sitting on the lot, so I bought it with the provision they would have it ready in one hour. I was to meet what was to be my future wife for our first date that evening. I didn't show her the car, just parked it at the end of the parking lot. Wasn't sure what she would think of a guy with a fancy red car.

When we married, we did on the same anniversary that we met (purchased the GT3) and used it as part of our wedding photoshoot in Saint Augustine.

Only upgrades (so far) are Fikse wheels and RSS mounts.
