If you require the MAF sensor for an E gas motor, I wish you luck. Trying to find someone who has those in stock other than Porsche has been futile. I have spent many hours trying and gave up. The MAF sensor needed for the non E gas is available from some outside sources that carry Bosch products.

Have a look at this thread (see page 2) for what you need and where to get it.

Default Thanks Loren!

I was searching on rentech.org, 6speed and here and didn't think of searching the Boxster forums.

i was just quoted 287.46 from suncoast porsche. they have it in stock but its for a '99. my local dealer matched the price when i told them i would do it myself. i'm guessing it was already installed so they matched the price.

Oops, I failed to mention this was for a 99 C2.

The lowest response (so far) I recevied was from my 6speedonline post for ~$236.

Thanks for all replies!

How do you know if the MAF is bad and needs replaced? What kind of problems do you have?

CEL went on and dealer diagnosed it as the MAF. I told them not to work on it - they want $500 for the sensor plus labor.

Before you replace it, try cleaning it. I had a problem with the MAF on my wife's 996 (CEL lit, and would re-light after codes cleared; all codes pointed to MAF). I pulled it out, cleaned it with some rubbing alcohol and a q-tip, and replaced it. Problem free since.

Removing it is easy if you have security Torx bits (available at many places). Otherwise, you can remove them with a pair of needlenose pliers if you're patient, then replace with a pair of regular screws.

vty,
