Default Transmission Swap

I have a C4S...and would gladly get rid of the AWD system. My question is if I could put a C2 transmission in there or not?

Same bolt pattern, but is the transmission mount in the same place? Anything else to consider?

Yes the C2 trans will work, but you could also leave the AWD trans and just remove the driveshaft and front diff and axles.

I actually have C4 Tip in my C2 Tip 99 Coupe. It's the same trans just has an extra PTO coming out the front spinning in mid air(driveshaft flange).

Another thing to consider when converting from C4 to C2, is the front stub axles. Some people just remove the CV joints and leave the C4 stubs, and some will buy C2 stubs for a more clean finished look.(no extra material where the CV connects)..

I thought that the knuckles between the 2wd and 4wd were different, and you couldn't use the C2 stub axle?

I have a C4 running on 2wd, it is running the stock transmission just nothing connected to the front output flange.
Can't help with the front spindles, since I purchased the car this way, I know is not the C4 stubs, because the PO handles them to me. He did told me he had purchase a kit of some kind to convert the front to 2wd, and converting back would be a very simple process. I plan to explore that area eventually, but I am dealing with other things at the moment.

I think you can use the C2 stubs on the 99-01 C4.....but the 02+ C4S may have to use the GT2 C2 stubs (99634113190) with the bigg3r splines.. but I'm not 100% positive, just about 90%, you may need to research this a little more..
