Default Muffler bypass installed

Ok so I ordered a pair of ebays finest bypass pipes and installed them. I’ll answer some of the questions I had going in in case anyone else is considering these.

Do I have to remove the rear bumper? No. Not at all. Removing the bumper would have been a HUGE waste of time.

Do I have to remove the rear wheels? Not necessarily, however if your doing it on jack stands I’d definitely recommend it. Once I put the car on the lift though, I left the wheels and bumper on and had no trouble at all

what tools are needed? A 13mm socket for 6 total bolts and a 17mm for a total of 4 bolts. A can of wd40 doesn’t hurt either. I’m in the south where rust and corrosion isn’t a problem though

How loud is it? Well, it’s louder than I expected but it’s defijitely manageable at regular speeds. At WOT it gets LOUD, but it sounds oh so sweet!!

How long did it take? On a lift it took maybe 20-30 minutes tops. I’d imagine on jack stands it would take an hour or so

thats it. Super simple and very rewarding. I don’t notice any difference in power but it sure does sound faster

Thats a link to a quick video I made.

No drone. The noise at regular cruising speeds is surprisingly smooth.

After a little more spirited driving, it may actually be a little peppier in the upper range

My hats off to anyone that can tolerate this outside of a race track (and even there I would wear ear plugs). I ran these for about a week and wanted to kill myself.

New member here...had to pop my posting cherry to comment on the excellent song choice! Op Ivy is just classic! Curious to know if you keep bypass or go for something a bit more civil in the coming days. Keep us updated!

Probably important to mention that before 911s my toy cars of choice were big turbo rotaries. Now those were loud! The last one I owned had a large street port with 3” exhaust from the turbo back...no cats. It was loud and had to have at least melted an icecap or two. At redlights on a hot day it would make your eyes water with the windows down.

Also rode straight pipes Harley’s. I like noise! Plus the 911 stays in the garage most days.

I will say, however, that my mufflers are in fanstastic shape so I’m going to clean them up and weld some fister style pipes in. Not sure if I’ll ever put them on though, the weight savings from those heavy mufflers is nice for sure
